Astro Chase

Overview

The goal of Astro Chase is to stop the dreaded space mines from reaching earth, which just happens to be at the center of the universe (as we've always assumed). However you can't just go around zapping space mines unhindered, no that would be too easy. In Astro Chase the universe is actually a giant maze of stars and planets. As you weave your way through the maze you'll begin encountering enemy ships (what space game would be complete without a few enemy ships?) that will try their best to either shoot you out of the sky (err... space), or just ram into you.

The 2600 version of Astro Chase was developed in 1983, but was never released. It's unclear if Astro Chase was going to be published by its developer, First Star Software, or if was going to be published by Parker Brothers, who released the 5200 version.

A prototype of Astro Chase showed up on eBay in 2022, but the purchaser decided they didn't want the game dumped. A second prototype surfaced in 2023, which may be the finished version of the game. The second prototype was dumped and released to the public with the permission of the rights holder.

A third earlier prototype has since been found in the possession of a former Parker Brothers employee.
