Supersonic is a classic electro-mechanical pinball table produced by the Italian manufacturer Zaccaria in 1977. The table features a supersonic flight theme, heavily inspired by the Concorde aircraft. The backglass and playfield showcase vivid, European-style cartoon artwork with a "groovy 60s vibe," despite its late 70s release.
Players aim to complete flights from London and Paris to New York by hitting specific targets. Successfully lighting the word "New York" allows the player to earn an extra ball by hitting a center target. The table includes two flippers, two pop bumpers, slingshots, and an inner/outer orbit layout. It is noted for its high difficulty and frequent "insta-drains" into the outlanes due to its fast and challenging layout.
Supersonic is famously described as a "backwards hybrid." While most American games of 1977 were moving toward digital scoring with chimes, this machine pairs traditional score reels with early digital electronic sounds, creating a distinct sensory experience for players.
