The Flying Dead

The Flying Dead is a horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up in which the player shoots down aircraft piloted by zombies. Despite the goal always being right, the player can still turn around and fly in the other direction (however, this means there is no reverse flying). Each contact with a foe or other obstacle is deadly and results in a direct respawn. When all lives are gone, the level has to be started again. At the end of each of the twelve levels waits a boss. Besides a standard weapon, there is also a limited amount of smart bombs available which clear the whole screen.

On the way there are coins and power-ups to collect. The latter have certain effects when picked up, e.g. weapon upgrades, additional movement speed or temporary invincibility. The coins can be used in the level select screen to buy upgrades for the next started level: weapon upgrades (rockets, rapid fire), additional smart bombs or additional lives.
