Jinyong Fighter

Overview

Jinyong Fighter, also known as Jinyong Kuaida (金庸快打), was developed in the mid-1990s for the DOS platform by Soft-World in Taiwan. The game is inspired by the adventures and martial arts heroes from the novels of Jin Yong, one of the most famous Chinese wuxia writers. The game allows players to engage in martial arts combat featuring characters from Jin Yong’s universe. It has a 2D fighting game style, typical of DOS-era beat 'em ups, with a focus on individual character combat.

Players select characters from Jin Yong’s novels and compete in one-on-one battles. The game emphasizes martial arts skills and strategy, often including different fighting techniques and weapons drawn from the wuxia tradition. The controls are straightforward DOS fighting mechanics, compatible with keyboard input or DOS gamepads. While not as complex as later RPG adaptations like Heroes of Jin Yong, the DOS game focuses on satisfying arcade-style combat.
