Overview
The Bally pinball machines Gator (1969), Sheba (1965), and Campus Queen (1966) share technical similarities, yet each offers a distinct thematic experience. Gator, featuring zipper flippers and mushroom bumpers, became notable for its vibrant artwork by Jerry Kelley and unique zipper flipper mechanics. With 2,120 units produced, it remains a popular choice among collectors. Sheba, released in 1965, had a limited production of 825 units and was one of the earlier designs by Ted Zale. Its playfield layout was reused in both Gator and Campus Queen, with the latter targeting a college audience and featuring a more colorful campus theme.
A German export version of Gator was also released under the name "Alligator".
