Mad Mines

Overview

Mad Mines is a fixed screen shoot 'em up that includes elements from two other shooters for home computers: Ceiling Zero and Space Eggs. The screen is divided into two parts by a force field. On the upper section, the mines move around until the player shoots them. Then an alien is launched from the mine and flies through the force field to the lower section, where it attempts to crash into the player. The aliens can also drop bombs on the player. The player simply has to shoot them to prevent this from happening. Once all enemies have been cleared, the force field is lowered, and a new set of enemies arrives. There are four kinds of enemies, and they move in different patterns and at different speeds. The enemies of the fourth wave are special since they quickly move straight down towards the player. If they reach the bottom of the screen, the player dies, even if not directly hit. The player has three ships, and an extra is awarded at 2000 points. The game can be played by one or two players.
