Overview
Gottlieb released their Raven pinball table in 1986. Designed by John Trudeau, the game is famously based on a "female Rambo" theme—a mercenary fighting in a jungle—inspired by the original shooting script for Rambo, which was titled "Raven". This meant Gottlieb could capitalize on the success of the 1985 movie "Rambo: First Blood Part II" without having to pay licencing fees to Sylvester Stallone for using his likeness, or to the rights holder, StudioCanal.
In 2015 ICPjuggla released a modded version for Visual Pinball 9 that makes small changes to the table artwork, and to the rom file (so it displays the name RAMBO instead of RAVEN), turning it into a Rambo-themed pinball table. This was then released for Visual Pinball X in 2021 by ArmyAviation.
