Overview
Cactus Canyon was released by Bally in 1998, though its production run was stopped short (903 machines) to begin the "Pinball 2000" project. Unfortunately, it shipped with incomplete code that was never fleshed out and polished by the manufacturer. The hardware had great potential, but the software wasn't very good.
Cactus Canyon Continued is an aftermarket code update developed by a pinball enthusiast in Wisconsin, Eric Priepke, who, using a P-ROC board, expanded and completed the original code to improve the gameplay. It contains new gameplay, sound, and dots, including Cowboys vs Aliens Multiball and Drunk Multiball, which reverses the flippers.
Digital recreations of Eric's revised gameplay have been created for Visual Pinball X by several different developers, including Ninuzzu, Tom Tower and VPin Workshop.
