Roller Derby

Overview

Roller Derby is a bingo pinball machine with a roller-skating theme released by Bally on May 10th 1960.

It is noteworthy for introducing the "Magic Screen" and "Pick-A-Play" button features, which allowed players to manipulate the reels and gameplay variables to increase their chances of winning.

For Pick-A-Play, players press red, green, blue, and yellow buttons before the game to dictate their playing style. The yellow and red buttons increase odds and features, while the blue and green buttons alter the probability of achieving payouts or lighting specific sections.

During the game, the Magic Screen feature allowed players to slide and scroll the colored sections on the screen up or down to better align with the numbers they had already landed on.
