Torpedo Torpor

Overview

Pew! Pew! Foom! Kaboom! Blast and shoot your way to high scores in this old-school shooter for Atari 2600 game systems. Protect your planet's force field from the invading enemy Kamikaze ships. Only a well-placed torpedo detonation will destroy an enemy mothership, while the small and deadly fighters are vulnerable only to your ship's laser batteries. Choose your shots carefully; your ship will be completely immobile while your torpedo's fire mission is in progress.

Torpedo Torpor was designed to replicate the feel of the earliest arcade ports from the 2600 library. Written in bB, the game was also devised to explore the limits of what kind of action could be achieved with only 4k of ROM, and the standard, 2-sprite basic kernel. Though the gameplay is simple, short score chasing, it is recommended that you download and read the manual in order to fully understand the game's somewhat unusual control schemes.
