Overview
Blind Maze is a puzzle game set inside a six-story building with a toxic atmosphere. The narrative follows a character attempting to ascend through the structure by completing specific missions on each floor. The main goal involves tracking down an Evil Spirit roaming the corridors and trapping it within hidden prison chambers to secure safe passage to the next level.
The graphics are ASCII-only, with the player navigating an "X" symbol through a partially obscured labyrinth. Information is displayed via two scrolling windows: a large primary window detailing the immediate surroundings and a smaller auxiliary window showing an adjacent section of the maze.
The movement mechanics directly link the player to the enemy, an Evil Spirit represented by a smiley face icon. While the enemy can move randomly on its own, it is also compelled to mimic the player's exact movements and direction. During this synchronized movement, the enemy can pass through solid walls. The player must use this mechanic to guide the enemy toward level-specific objectives, such as a prison door, without making direct contact.
Every movement consumes a steadily depleting oxygen supply. The player must search the maze for oxygen tanks to survive, alongside explosives used to destroy walls and create new paths.
