Overview
Necchuu! Pro Yakyuu 2002 is a baseball arcade game that was released by Namco in 2002 only in Japan; it runs on that company's System 246 hardware, and was produced under license from Fuji Television, as it features the voice of that network's then-39-year-old live sports commentator Masaharu Miyake.
Players must use an 8-way joystick and three buttons to take up control of two of the twelve real-life teams from the Japanese Central and Pacific Leagues (who were previously featured in Namco's own World Stadium series between 1992 and 2001, as well as their original Great Sluggers in 1993) - and in addition to each team's standard lineup (which are those of the 2001 NPB season), twelve hidden "dream" lineups shall also become available a certain amount of time following the NVRAM's initialisation after the first instance the cabinet was turned on.
Furthermore, in addition to a "favourite team" setting, the game also has a "local player support" mode, for which arcade operators could specify where the cabinet had been installed, and the players from that area would be at their best form as a result.
