In the Hunt

Overview

In the Hunt (Japanese title: Kaitei Daisensou) is a horizontal scrolling shoot 'em up originally developed by Irem for arcades in 1993. The Windows version arrived in 1997, developed by Xing Entertainment and based on the home conversions of the arcade game.

The game is often described as a submarine version of an R-Type-style shooter, and it is particularly interesting historically because many of the developers later formed Nazca Corporation, the studio behind the original Metal Slug series.

In a post-apocalyptic future, the world has been devastated by environmental disasters and rising oceans. An organization known as the Dark Anarchy Society (D.A.S.) threatens humanity with a powerful weapon.

You take control of the experimental submarine Granvia, fighting through underwater ruins, enemy fleets, and gigantic mechanical bosses to stop D.A.S. from completing its plans.
