Overview
"Elvira's Party House of Horrors" is a mash-up of Bally's "Elvira and the Party Monsters" (1989) with Stern Pinball's "Elvira's House of Horrors" (2019). This Visual Pinball X game was released in 2021 by Marty02.
It recreates the playfield and artwork of the more modern Stern table, but uses the rom file from the older Bally game. This was necessary as VPinMame and Visual Pinball X do not yet support emulating the Stern SPIKE 2 System.
The Stern Spike 2 system is the decentralized, modular electronics and computer hardware platform introduced by Stern Pinball in 2016 to power its modern pinball machines equipped with LCD screens, including "Elvira's House of Horrors".
By using the rom file from Bally's much older Elvira table, Marty02 has been able to give digital pinball players the chance to experience the House of Horrors playfield layout and artwork, but with the familiar gameplay and sounds of Bally's classic Party Monsters machine.
