Dark Strike A.T.F.

Overview

Dark Strike A.T.F. (Advanced Tactical Fighter) is a vertical-scrolling space shoot 'em up developed by Prisim Games and released for MS-DOS in 1995. Pivoting completely away from traditional flight simulation, the game delivers classic, arcade-style space shooter mechanics. Players pilot a highly maneuverable, multi-winged metallic starfighter deployed at the bottom of the screen to defend the galaxy against aggressive invading alien fleets. The brawler-style space combat tasks players with destroying rigid geometric rows of red bio-mechanical starcraft while weaving through fields of floating space debris and massive gray asteroids. A distinct right-side graphical heads-up display dashboard acts as the command center, live-tracking multi-tiered indicator gauges for hull shields, standard laser heat overloads, and secondary 'M. Storm' missile reserves. Operating on a 256-color VGA palette, Dark Strike A.T.F. delivers a fast-paced shareware action experience rooted in old-school fixed-screen retro shooting dynamics.
