Nick Trivia Challenge

Overview

Everybody remembers it. Nobody remembers it correctly.

Somebody at this table is about to say the wrong dog’s name with total confidence. Nick Trivia Challenge puts up to four of you on a game-show stage and settles it — a question, a shrinking timer, and a race to the buzzer. Get it wrong and you’re locked out while everyone else gets six seconds to steal it off you.

It starts with the dog’s name. It ends, twenty rounds later, with the catalogue number of a promotional cassette you had to mail away for. Every answer was checked.

975 questions, none repeated in a game, across five difficulty tiers that climb as you play.

Nine categories — from the Nicktoons everybody names to the imports nobody does.

2–4 player buzz-in with Super Multitap support, plus CPU rivals to fill the podium.

Seven bonus minigames between rounds — memory, avoidance, collection, four-way paddle chaos and one that punishes mashing.

Double Slime, streaks and steals — a last-round comeback is always live.

Battery-backed leaderboard that remembers your initials and which questions you’ve seen.

Up to four people share the screen on a game-show stage. A question appears with its subject named above it and four answers below. A green bar starts draining. The first person to hit a shoulder button takes the question — everyone else is frozen out while they answer. Answer correctly and you score the question’s difficulty plus whatever was left on the clock. Answer wrong and you lose nothing but the question, and the rest of the table gets six seconds to take it from you.

The bank holds 975 questions in five difficulty tiers, and a game walks up through them. Round one asks what colour the slime is. By the Superfan Final it is asking which orchestra played on the Peter and the Wolf recording that Melissa Joan Hart narrated in character as Clarissa Darling. Nothing repeats inside a game, and the cartridge remembers across games which questions you have already been asked, so the second playthrough covers new ground before it reaches for anything it has used.

Coverage runs well past the obvious. Alongside the Nicktoons there are the game shows down to all six Legends team names, the network’s own history, the three theatrical films, the video games, the merchandise — both Mattel figure lines, the Sony Wonder records, the Remco handhelds — and a whole category for the imports Nickelodeon aired but never made: Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, David the Gnome, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Noozles, Mr. Wizard’s World.
