Full Throttle

Released in 2015, Full Throttle is a widebody solid-state pinball machine designed by Dave Sanders and manufactured by the now-defunct Heighway Pinball. Based in South Wales, the company made history with this title as it was the first-ever commercial pinball machine produced in the United Kingdom. Built around a high-octane motorcycle racing theme, the game puts players in the boots of an aspiring rookie racer working their way up to become a world champion. Along the way, players must face off against a fictional, trash-talking arch-rival named Francisco Valentino, all set to an energetic rock soundtrack provided by the band Redline.

The table is known in the pinball community for its innovative technological additions, most notably being one of the first machines to embed a full-color LCD screen directly into the center of the playfield surface. This allows players to track scores, challenges, and animations without looking up at the backbox. Despite being a widebody machine, which typically features a slower playstyle, Full Throttle maintains a fast and smooth ball flow. The physical playfield includes dynamic physical features such as a motorized model of Francisco Valentino that moves to track and heckle the player, alongside two pairs of motorized spinning bike wheels designed to add an unpredictable swerve to the pinball. Additionally, the table was designed using a modular "Game Changer" cabinet system, intended to allow operators to swap the playfield out for entirely different future games in just a few minutes.

In terms of rules and gameplay, Full Throttle balances approachable, classic 1990s-style layouts with deep strategic modes. The main progression loop tasks players with shooting the center scoop to initiate global circuit races across countries like Spain, Russia, and Great Britain. During these timed races, hitting specific flashing targets advances the player's track position to secure a trophy. Alongside world racing, players must complete five distinct motorcycle stunt disciplines—including motocross, drag, circuit, street, and orbit challenges—by hitting designated targets, which eventually stacks rewards and unlocks a chaotic, six-ball wizard mode multiball.
