Overview
For two centuries, the Fujiwara clan ruled over Japan with an iron fist, their reign marked by cruelty and oppression. In response, a group of skilled craftsmen and farmers, desperate to escape the tyrannical rule, fled to the remote Toga-Kuve Mountain. There, they honed their skills in secrecy, training to become the most feared warriors in Japan: the Ninjas, masters of Ninjutsu. Four hundred years later, their name struck fear into the hearts of all, for they had overthrown the Fujiwara and ended their brutal rule.
However, the rise of the Ninjas didn't go unnoticed. A new Shogun, Kunitoki, was determined to uncover the secrets of their martial arts. With cunning and treachery, he devised a vicious plan. Every decade, the Ninjas gathered on the island of Lin-Fen to pay their respects at the shrine of the "White Ninja" and refine their techniques. It was here that Kunitoki struck, overpowering the assembled Ninjas and stealing their knowledge to train his own soldiers in the deadly art of Ninjutsu. Armed with the stolen Koga scrolls, he believed he had secured the power of the Ninjas for himself.
But Kunitoki was unaware that one Ninja had been absent during the attack, tasked with guarding the sacred shrine of the Bunkurkan. His name was Armakuni, and he was the last of his kind. Upon hearing of the betrayal on Lin-Fen, he swore to avenge his fallen brethren, recover the stolen Koga scrolls, and restore the honor of the Ninjas.
