Overview
The 1968 Williams Space Pilot is a rare, coin-operated electromechanical (EM) flight simulator arcade game. Released by Williams Electronics in November 1968, it capitalized on the public's fascination with the Space Race and the lead-up to the moon landing.
The objective of the game is to pilot a miniature 5.5-inch U.S. spacecraft around the cabinet's internal enclosure to score points by striking targets.
The game is operated via two distinct control levers on the front panel. The left lever controls the vehicle's altitude (up and down) using a bottom-facing propeller. The right lever dictates lateral direction (forward and reverse) using a rear, sideways-mounted propeller.
