Overview
After being introduced to the game by a circus presenter, the player’s character is transported to a randomly generated maze from which they must find their way out. There is just one catch: a Tyrannosaurus Rex is hiding in the maze. As soon as the character moves, the dinosaur will start tracking them, becoming increasingly active the closer it gets to the player. Information about Rex’s activity is displayed at the bottom of the screen: when he is far away (‘Rex is waiting’), when he is approaching (‘Footsteps approaching’), and when he spots the player (‘RUN! He’s behind you’). The player can run faster than Rex, but many adventurers have taken a wrong turn or found themselves in a dead end with no way out. The exit from the maze is only visible from a distance of a few steps, so it is not easy to find. In the 80-character version of the game, the screen shows the maze with the exit marked, which makes it much easier to escape from Rex.
