The player takes on the role of a space entrepreneur competing against the Omni Corporation to maximise profits from mining valuable minerals from asteroids. Before the game begins, the player selects a difficulty level and one of nine sectors; each sector contains 9 asteroids to mine, making a total of 81 asteroids. The game is turn-based, and each player has six different-coloured lasers, each with a different point multiplier. To mine minerals, the player fires a laser of the appropriate colour, which collects all fragments of that colour arranged in a straight line, regardless of whether they are inside or outside the asteroid. In later levels, multipliers also appear on the minerals themselves, forcing players to undertake tactical and most profitable mining operations. Each mineral collected fills the storage area of both players simultaneously, and filling one colour to 100 per cent renders any further minerals of that colour worthless. It is not necessary to mine the entire asteroid to the end. Once a full turn has been completed by the player or the computer (or vice versa), the Enter key can be pressed to abandon mining and move on to the next asteroid, bearing in mind that it is not possible to return to the previous one. Completing an entire sector blocks re-entry to it and totals the player’s and the computer’s earnings. The game ends once every sector has been completed, and the player with the highest number of points wins.
