Overview

Based upon Gustave Flaubert's 1858 novel Salammbo, this is the epic story of love and hate, revenge and rivalry. Taking place during the fall of Carthage to the Roman Empire, you play Spendius, slave and close companion of Matho, a Libyan mercenary, who is in love with Salammbo, General Hamilcar's daughter. As Spendius you must outwit rebel forces and rescue the City of Carthage as well as reunite Matho with his true love. The game features music from "Mozarts Requiem", and rich graphics designed by famed French artist Philippe Druillet whose illustrations also appear in Ring: Legend of Nibelungen and its sequel Ring II. Druillet rescued Salammbo from Cryo, the company who began the development, and finished the product himself. Find inventory items, talk to numerous non-player characters and solve a variety of different puzzles in this point and click, mouse-driven adventure.
