Overview
The year is 2072. A hacker from a Saturn colony breaks into computer system of TriOptimum Corporation and gets arrested. He is taken to the Citadel Station, where Edward Diego, a TriOptimum executive, offers to drop all charges against the hacker, as well as grant him a valuable neural implant, if he agrees to hack into SHODAN (Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network) , the artificial intelligence that controls the station.
System Shock is a first-person shooter with puzzle-solving and light role-playing elements. The gameplay incorporates gradual exploration of the Citadel's ten levels, interaction with the environment, problem-solving, fulfilling objectives, and combat.
System Shock: Enhanced Edition is an updated version of the 1994 game System Shock for a modern PC configuration. It includes a new version of the game that improves resolution support from 640x480 to 1024x768 as well as native 854x480 widescreen. Optionally mouselook can be enabled and the inventory and item management has been made more intuitive along with several bug fixes. The controls can be remapped. It also includes System Shock: Classic, the original version of the game, available in both the disc and floppy editions.
