Overview

Alex Higgins World Pool allows you the chance to play against a friend in a game of traditional pool. Originally scheduled for release as simply 'Pool', and something of a follow-up to Amsoft's earlier 'Snooker' game, it is heavily based heavily on the same engine with different rules applied to reflect the differences between the two games. Before release, Amsoft secured the licence to use the name of perennial World Championship challenger Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins - something of a maverick in the sport and arguably the first box office attraction that the sport had. Released by Schneider in Germany, the game went back to its original title (given Alex Higgins' lack of popularity outside of the UK). The game is compatible with the Amstrad SSA-1 Speech Synthesizer.
