Overview

Shutter Island is a hidden object game with adventure elements, and a tie-in to a motion picture of the same name. Photographs of the cast are used as portraits for the main characters. The game follows the plot of the movie, where two federal agents are summoned to a mental institution situated on an island, to investigate the disappearance of one particularly dangerous patient. As they search for clues on the many rooms and other locations, dark secrets start to be uncovered, blurring the line between reality and fantasy. Most of the time, the main objective is to find and click on several items scattered around the screen. The list at the bottom displays either the names or pictures of the required objects. Some of the collected items are stored inside the tools inventory, a left tab that can slide upwards from the bottom-left interface. In some scenes, the player has to use the inventory items to complete the location objective and move to the next one, by dragging and dropping them on specific portions of the scenery. The interactive hotspots show a number of slots, where the necessary tools have to be inserted to perform an action or solve a puzzle. There are a few mini-games that take place on a separate screen, where the player has to find the differences between two similar images, solve mathematical riddles and complete other challenges.
