Super Dimension Fortress Macross

Chō Jikū Yōsai Macross is the very first game based on the classic anime series, released for the Bandai Arcadia.

The player controls a Valkyrie fighter and is tasked with attacking a Zentradi ship. Gameplay consists of two distinct sections: The first is a top-down shooting section. The enemy ship launches defenders that shoot at the Valkyrie. Their shots must be evaded and all craft destroyed. Only then can the Valkyrie board the enemy which leads to the second section, a platform-type game, for which the Valkyrie changes into its Battroid (mecha) form. Through two screens, the Valkyrie must shoot at enemy mecha while evading their shots. Barriers in the floors must be shot to get to the lower levels. At the bottom of the second screen, the enemy's reactor awaits. Shooting it triggers a countdown sequence. The Valkyrie must reach the top of the first level in time to escape. Finishing the second level restarts the game.
