Overview
Yu Yu Hakusho is the first videogame based on the manga/anime license.
The game has both a story and vs. mode. The story mode comprises of a series of one-on-one fights and is broken up into two different options. One option is to play through Rando's storyline involving Genkai's tournament which only lets the player play as Yusuke or Kuwabara. The other option is to play through the Suzuku story line. Players get to choose from a roster of four characters (Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama). However, when one character gets defeated they must chose a different character in order to continue. Each storyline option consists of five fights. While in a fight, the player can use punches and kicks, and they can use a charged special attack up to three times per fight.
After every two fights players will get to play a minigame with Botan in which they can win items that refill their health or special attacks to use in future fights.
The vs. mode lets players have fights between Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama. Players can also select the stage they want to fight on. The game offers three difficulty levels.
