Overview

Pokémon Orange Version is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak for the Game Boy, originally released in Japan in August 1999. The game is part of the first generation of the Pokémon series and takes place in the Orange Islands. Aspects of the game were remade as part of Pokémon Hyper Red and Power Blue, remakes of Pokémon Red and Blue released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2018. Go on a journey through the Orange Islands and Sevii Islands. Deliver the GS Ball to Professor Ivy and discover its mysteries. Meet and discover new Pokémon. Be the first to try out the Pokégear. The main character is asked by Professor Oak to deliver the GS Ball to Professor Ivy. Professor Oak upgrades the Generation I Kanto Pokédex to a Generation II-style Pokédex and tells Red and Green that new Pokémon have been discovered. After that, Professor Oak tells Red and Green about the Orange League and Sevii League. Blue, having heard what Oak just said about the journey, wants to go, so his Pokédex is upgraded as well. Red, Green, and Blue go on the S.S. Anne to the Orange Islands and the game begins.
