Overview
The game follows a protagonist traveling through various regions capturing and battling creatures called “Pokémon” (actually Telefang monsters with altered sprites and names). The narrative is loosely structured around defeating a series of opponents and advancing through dungeons, often with contrived story elements added by the bootleggers. Traditional Pokémon elements like Gym Leaders and the Elite Four are mostly absent; progression relies on battling wild creatures and a few scripted trainers. Dialogue is often broken English or mistranslated.
Pokémon Diamond and Jade are bootlegged versions of Keitai Denjuu Telefang 1. The Power Version was used to make Diamond, and the Speed Version became Jade. Along with a Chinese version, partly-translated German and Spanish versions also exist. Pokémon Jade has also been used for the name for an edited version of a pirated game called Sonic Adventures 7.
