Overview

The Ogura Hyakunin Isshu is a classical anthology of Japanese poems compiled during the Heian period (794-1185). It consists of 100 poems, each composed by a different poet, spanning several centuries of Japanese literature. In "Monoshiri Jiyuugaku: Ogura Hyakunin Isshu-hen," players embark on a journey alongside Tanuki and Shoni as they set out to participate in a singing contest at a grand venue. As players guide both characters through the picturesque countryside, they encounter various puzzles to solve along the route. Interactions with NPCs prompt a mini-game where player must match the verses of traditional Japanese poems from the renowned Ogura Hyakunin Isshu anthology. Successfully matching the verses with the correct options not only allows progression but also grants access to essential items found in Tanuki's inventory.
