Overview

Special Forces: Team X is a multiplayer-only 3rd-person shooter set in a modern military scenario. The playing modes are Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Control Point (conquering and holding locations), Hot Zone (a variant of Control Point with only one active location to hold at a time) and High Value Target (the player with the first kill becomes the high value target who gets more team points for more kills - but now the whole other team has the goal to kill this person). Killing enemies gives experience points (team play is encouraged by rewarding bonuses when many players are close together and by giving points to players which injured an enemy before a teammate closes the kill) which are in turn invested into weapon upgrades, gadgets (e.g. combat dogs which can be used against enemies), passive perks with cooldown which are mostly beneficial to the whole team and passive perks for individual advantages. There are no classes but a mechanic to snap into cover with a button press. The maps are not completely static but are divided into three areas which have three (the middle one) respectively nine (the other two) variants. Before starting a match, the players vote which variants are used.
