With its mysterious magic and sorcery theme and unique layout, Abra Ca Dabra is one of the most beloved games released by Gottlieb in the mid-1970s. Designed by Jeff Brenner, this machine arrived during a golden era of electromechanical pinball and is regarded by collectors as one of the finest wedgehead cabinet games of the mid-1970s. Boasting a production run of 2,825 confirmed units, it remains a sought-after staple for classic arcade enthusiasts and virtual pinball simulators alike.

The artwork by Gordon Morison centers on a striking wizard and a mystical companion emblazoned on the backglass. At Game Over, the wizard’s ominous eyes light up to entice players back for one more round. Morison’s red, yellow, orange and white color palette extends seamlessly onto the cabinet and the playfield, creating an instantly recognizable aesthetic.

At the heart of Abra Ca Dabra's mechanical layout are two 5-bank drop targets (for a total of ten drop targets) stretching across the playfield, flanked by two pop bumpers and two upper slingshots. The gameplay emphasizes precision and ball control, earning it a reputation as a "ball trapper's paradise" among purists. Scoring relies heavily on advancing and collecting bonuses, which requires a strategic balance between plunging the ball through top rollovers and methodically clearing the drop targets.

Abra Ca Dabra holds a lasting legacy in pinball history, and its playfield geometry was so well-tuned that Gottlieb later reused the exact same layout for their soccer-themed games, Team One and Kicker.
