Overview
Aleshar: The World of Ice follows a young man born with the illegal Spark; an elemental power permitted only to priests of the Cult of Wisdom. Sent away to train under an isolated elementalist to avoid the fate of his hunted grandfather, the protagonist eventually returns to a frozen world ruled by storms, monsters, and the Cult’s influence.
Aleshar is a top-down RPG set across a large, snow-covered world. Play alternates between a real-time overland map where the character travels, hunts, and encounters random foes and a tactical turn-based map used for combat and exploring the towns.
Characters are created from several classes and improve skills through use rather than leveling. Magic, known as the Spark, is learned later and formed from five elemental runes that can be combined and adjusted in strength. High-power spells are more effective but increase fatigue. The game contains no fixed progression beyond exploring locations, surviving encounters, and advancing through its mission structure.
