Overview

The Asteroid Field is a 1-player Asteroids clone for the Apple II The player controls a small arrow-shaped spaceship which can rotate 360 degrees, and moves forwards via thrusters. Ship control is via keyboard or Apple Paddles. The player starts each level with a number of fast-moving asteroids, which when shot will break into two smaller pieces, and will third split a third time until destroyed. Intermittently, a small or large-sized flying saucer will enter the screen and fire randomly. This ship can be destroyed by player fire or by asteroids. The player is awarded points for asteroids or ships destroyed, and if the player destroys all objects on the screen, will advance to a faster moving level. The player starts with a total of 5 ships, and when all are lost, it's game over.
