Overview

MiniSquadron is a side scrolling shooter where the player takes control of a tiny little plane in dogfights against wave after wave of other similar little planes. Gameplay is similar to games like Sopwith and Triplane Turmoil. The player can move freely around in all directions and do various aerobatic manoeuvres such as loops, turns and rolls. In addition to shooting at the enemy planes the player also has avoid crashing. Fly to high and the plane begins to stall and to avoid crashing into the ground the player needs to turn around the nose and dive to regain control. The player can pick up various power ups that fall from the sky. These include extra health, increased speed and various special attacks such as airstrikes and very large laser beams. The game consists of eight levels each with twelve waves of enemy attacks. At the start the player only has one simple plane available put a further 55 can be unlocked through out the game. Each plane not only has its own look but differs in characteristics. Some planes are quick but weak while others might be bigger in size and have different weaponry. The player will come across many different enemies from simple planes similar to his own to animals and UFO's. Most are in the air but there are also some ground targets that need to be taken down. In addition to the wave after wave mode called classic there is also a survival mode and a multiplayer mode. Survival is a mode without an end. The player simple has to stay alive as long possible. The multiplayer is for two players and is played over a wi-fi network.
