Overview

This game tests students in the 9-10 age group on a wide variety of subjects including math, language arts, science, social studies, and problem solving. Focus is on geometry, fractions, verb tenses, life science, ecology, U.S. and world history, and cultural diversity. Four skill levels are provided for each of 16 different activities, with detailed help available along with progress tracking reports accessed through an options screen. The ClueFinders are stranded on a living island by a giant wave, and must collect various types of "cryptiles" (e.g., turquoise, jade) to free captive animals and people. The island is beset with an active volcano that's on the verge of erupting, and players must discover the secret of the living island to rescue the castaways, Owen and Leslie, before it's too late. Game locations include the Poison Garden and Biosphere Chambers, as well as eras relating to the Revolutionary War and Civil War among others. It features the A.D.A.P.T. Learning Technology which constantly monitors abilities and skills, automatically adjusting the level of difficulty. An Adventure Kit includes a map maker, adventure logbook, encoder/decoder, and more. A 2002 Deluxe re-release included a bonus disk: "Mystery Mansion Arcade."
