Gate

Gate is a top-down arcade game for the Apple IIgs.

You have been captured by Darg the Firemaster, and thrown into prison. While locked in prison, you meet a dying prisoner, who gifts you a key to escape your cell in exchange for trying to defeat the Firemaster.

The player is armed with a sword and must explore the twisting corridors of the Firemaster's prison from a top-down perspective. They must defeat his multitude of guards who constantly move towards the player. Guards spawn from set points which must be destroyed. The player has limited health, and when all is lost , a life is lost. The player can purchase health, keys, and armor from magic shops encountered throughout levels. The player collects treasures and different colored keys as they explore, and there are multiple levels to explore.
