Overview

You are called upon to use your talents as an amateur sleuth to help solve 15 different cases in The Fantastic Museum Mysteries. It seems valuable items have been stolen from the museum and, at the behest of Joe Security, the museum's guard, you must help the Clue Jr. Kids track down the missing items and solve the mystery. To aid you in your detective tasks, the game includes a Clue Jr. SpyGlass that must be plugged into your PC game port. Holding the SpyGlass less than 12 inches from the screen (flat, not at an angle), you scan the scene to locate clues and items. Once you discover a promising area, you click the SpyGlass button to acquire the item or get information from various icons (notebook, hallway arrows, curators and so forth). The game world consists of five museum wings in which the stolen item might be hidden: Science, Dinosaur, Jungle, Medieval and Egyptian. At the start of each mystery, you are shown five possible suspects and through the collection of clues, must determine which is the culprit. In the Information Booth, run by Gabby, you can receive important data about specific items you enter in your notebook as you explore. Once you collect the right number of clues to solve the mystery, you must visit Joe Security in his Security Tower. In addition to the adventure, there are five mini-games to play, one each located in the five museum wings. In the Dinosaur Wing, you need to match a series of fossil pairs within one minute while the Jungle Wing game requires you to zap bugs with the SpyGlass in order to get them off an ape. You have a maximum of eight hearts (lives) and each time a bug escapes, you lose one; however, you gain one each time you zap ten bugs in a row. The other mini-games include another 60-second timed challenge in which you try to duplicate a pattern of buttons that flash (Science Wing), eliminate knights that appear onscreen before they have time to exit the screen (Medieval Wing) and zap mummy heads as they pop up in the Egyptian Wing. In addition to Joe Security and Gabby, each museum wing has its own curator and there are four Clue Jr. Kids, each with his or her own personality traits.
