Arena (Paradize Software)

Overview

A shoot'em up duel game for 1 or 2 players, definitely more fun for 2. Intro music is great. Released in Italy as Gladiators in Formula 64 n.82. In a very distant future, on a planet in a small constellation located on the opposite side of the universe (from the Solar System), a civilization has adopted a sport that has been popular for two thousand years also does on Earth: the fight between gladiators. This sport is very bloody (a fighter has to succumb in the end) but luckily no one gets hurt with your computer.

This is particularly important since with this program it is not possible to compete against the computer (it would be too easy for it to win) but only against a friend of yours. The only weapons you have to use are the two joysticks that control the two gladiators on the screen. At the beginning everyone has a laser gun but whoever first hits the sphere, which appears on the screen from time to time, acquires another, more powerful weapon. The aim of the game is to hit the opponent until he is defeated (there is also a mechanical referee) and obviously try to be hit as little as possible.
