Overview

Freaks is a 3D game for MS/DOS written in 1993 by three Spanish guys - Angel Ortega, Manuel Zamora and Antonio Guerrero using a Wolf3D type of engine. It was released as shareware but now you can download it for free. It's a complete game with 4 big episodes and a great variety of nice looking monsters. In 2002 a remake was started though it's not fully complete. Some new features were implemented: full angle rotation (not limited to the original 90 degree steps), engine improvements (depth cue lighting, better sounds management), map definitions and some game logic rewritten in a higher-level language (using Filp [3]), more ambientation (rain, lightning storms, etc). The game idea is mostly unchanged; the only difference is that life is not replenished after killing a monster, but after passing over a corpse (as if "feeding" from it).
