Overview

Dustforce is a 2D side-scrolling platform game starring a team of broomsweeping janitors. Players select one of the four available characters and need to complete more than 50 levels. These are accessed from a central hub that is further opened up through keys. Each door represents a new level. Some of them have a level completion requirement before they can be accessed. After each level the player is rated based on the completion rate (sweeping all dust), finesse (holding on to a combo) and time. Often a key is received for perfect levels. Global leaderboards are supported as well as local multiplayer. The gameplay is centered around sweeping dust. This is required to complete levels, but at the same time players are encouraged to maintain a combo and often complete levels without touching the ground. Dust and leaves are scattered around in small patches on the ground, on walls and on ceilings, and the player can move from one part to another through different types of moves. These include single and double jumping, gliding, dashing, wall jumping, and more. In earlier levels the player can move freely and make mistakes, but later ones introduce spikes and other hazards that require perfect momentum without landing. The levels include monsters that can be attacked and taken out using different types of broom attacks, also often without touching the ground.
