Overview
Set on the fictional Seadrift Island, Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun places players in the role of detective Hercule Poirot. The story is loosely inspired by Agatha Christie’s 1941 novel of the same name. Poirot, while recounting the case to his friend and assistant, Captain Hastings, describes his vacation at the Smuggler’s Rest Hotel. The murder of actress Arlene Stuart disrupts his leisure time, leading Poirot to investigate the guests and their potential motives. The game’s events are narrated by Poirot with commentary from Hastings, who occasionally interjects to influence the narrative. The game is a point-and-click adventure played from a third-person perspective. Players explore the hotel, the island, and surrounding locations while interviewing characters and solving puzzles. Most puzzles involve inventory management and require logical problem-solving. The game introduces a "Finger of Suspicion" system to provide hints for players. Dialogue, exploration, and piecing together evidence are central to progressing through the investigation.
