A house, apparently peaceful but prey to diabolical phenomena, may well become your final resting place... Peur sur Amtiyville is inspired by the famous fantasy film and strives to recreate its distressing atmosphere by means of sets dark and disturbing. The game screen appears like an open book whose left pages are illustrated by the rooms of the house. On the right, a text with a somewhat heavy humor describes each situation and indicates the physical state of the player. Exploring places is done simply by pushing the Joystick in the desired direction. The more complex orders are constructed in the manner of an exquisite corpse (which is entirely appropriate), by the association of a verb and a noun contained in a list that can be scrolled on the screen using the joystick. The vocabulary is limited to around forty words, but this method of managing dialogue minimizes unsuccessful trial and error and suggests relevant actions. Progression nevertheless remains quite difficult, with supernatural phenomena defying the player's sense of logic and the house's reactions often being unpredictable.
