Dance Central

Dance Central

Microsoft Xbox 360 - Released - November 4, 2010

Gameplay involves the player performing given dance moves which are tracked by Kinect and represented on the screen by one of eight in-game avatars. The game features over 650 different dance moves spanning over 90 dance routines. There are five modes available: Perform It: The regular single-player gameplay mode, in which the objective is to complete these dance routines to earn a high score. Workout Mode: An extension to regular mode in which the number of calories burned are also tracked, along with the workout time. Dance Battle: Two players compete in a head-to head dance routine battle. The person with the highest score is the winner. In the rare event there is a tie in the score, the player who passed more moves wins. Challenge Mode: Once all songs (four or five) in each difficulty category have at least four stars on each one, a challenge based on the difficulty is unlocked. This mode increases the difficulty of the game by having portions of four or five songs combined into one, thus mixing up the dance moves. All challenges must be completed with four stars on each challenge in order to unlock the final challenge. Break it Down: A practice mode that allows beginners to learn more advanced dance moves in a step-by-step process.

Dance Central 2

Dance Central 2

Microsoft Xbox 360 - October 25, 2011

The core gameplay in Dance Central 2 is mostly identical to the original Dance Central. Players perform given dance moves, which are tracked by the Kinect. The more accurately the player performs the move, the more points he/she scores. Higher difficulties increase move complexity, and the margin for error is reduced. Features new to Dance Central 2 include voice control, simultaneous two player gameplay in both cooperative and competitive modes with drop in/drop out functionality, an improved fitness mode, a more in-depth and customizable "Break it Down" mode, allowing the player to practice only specific moves in a routine, and a campaign mode featuring dance crews of various styles.

The gameplay is similar to GuitarFreaks, in that the player presses buttons on the guitar controller in time with musical notes that scroll on the game screen. The game features covers of 30 popular rock songs spanning five decades of rock, from the 1960s up through 2005, in addition to bonus tracks. Guitar Hero became a surprise hit, earning critical acclaim and winning many awards from major video game publications, and was considered one of the most influential games of the first decade of the 21st century.

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

Sony Playstation 2 - Released - July 24, 2007

Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s (titled Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s in Europe)[4] is a music rhythm game and the third installment in the popular Guitar Hero series. It was released in July 2007 in North America and Europe, and in August 2007 in Australia. Players use a guitar-shaped controller (purchased separately) to simulate playing rock music by hitting notes as they scroll towards the player. Rocks the 80s is an incremental title in the Guitar Hero series, rather than a full sequel. No changes in gameplay from Guitar Hero II have been introduced to this game. As implied by the game's title, the game features a 1980s theme, consisting of songs from the decade and playable characters, fashions, and artwork that reflect the time period. The game was not as well-received as the prior two Guitar Hero games, due to the lack of new gameplay features and reduced soundtrack. Rocks the 80s is the third and final title in the Guitar Hero series to be developed by Harmonix before they moved on to create Rock Band.[5] The next major installment of the series, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, was developed by Activision's Neversoft division.[6]

Guitar Hero II

Guitar Hero II

Sony Playstation 2 - Released - November 7, 2006

Guitar Hero II, the follow-up to the PS2-only game Guitar Hero, expands upon the gameplay and features of the original game. As a wannabe rockstar, you need to play songs by pressing combinations of five fret buttons on a guitar-shaped controller, while working the strum bar, along with an optional whammy bar for distortion. The sequel contains 64 songs, of which 40 have been licensed. One of the tracks was discovered through a contest at beaguitarhero.com, where unlicensed bands could send in a demo to be included in the game. Most of the tracks have been covered in-studio, but a few use original recordings.

Karaoke Revolution

Karaoke Revolution

Microsoft Xbox - Released - November 24, 2009

Karaoke Revolution allows gamers to show off their singing skills and get real-time feedback on their performances. It's similar to Dance Dance Revolution, but with singing instead of dancing. The game rates the player's performance based on their vocal pitch and timing. A visual indicator shows the player's current pitch in real time and also the pitch of vocals of the original song. If the original notes of the song are too high for the player's vocal range, the game allows the player to sing at higher or lower octaves to hit the correct notes. If the player sings well, the crowd gets into the performance by clapping, cheering and dancing. If the performance is bad, the audience becomes bored and the user can get booed off the stage. Single Player Game Modes include: - Arcade Mode: where users sing 3–5 songs and try to score big points - Showtime Mode: Players start at a living room party and work to a huge concert at the Enormobowl. Additional venues include: a subway station, The Pit Stop, a county fair, the Superstar TV show, Club Avalanche, and a royal hall. - Karaoke Mode: Players can enjoy singing the song without having to worry about bring rated or scored. Multi-player Game Mode include: - Arcade Mode: 2–8 players perform songs and try to be the player with the highest score at the end of each round. The player who wins the most rounds is the winner. - Karaoke Competition: 3–8 players compete against each other. The main twist of this mode is that each player rates the performance of the other players to determine the winner of the Karaoke competition.

Karaoke Revolution Party

Karaoke Revolution Party

Sony Playstation 2 - Released - November 8, 2005

Karaoke Revolution and its many sequels are video games for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360, developed by Harmonix and Blitz Games and published by Konami in its Bemani line of music games. The Original Concept for Karaoke Revolution was created by Scott Hawkins and Sneaky Rabbit Studios.[1] Technology and concepts from the game were subsequently incorporated into Harmonix's game Rock Band. The Japanese versions of the game are developed by Konami themselves. The gameplay also differs significantly. Rather than a game per se, it is merely a karaoke system for the PlayStation 2, with no judgments. The game does not attempt to understand the singer's words, but instead detects their pitch. As such, singers can hum to a song or sing different lyrics without penalty. The game adapts to the player singing in a different octave than the song, to accommodate players whose vocal ranges do not fit the song. The songs in the game are covers of pop hits frequently sung in karaoke bars. This contrasts with the SingStar series from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which features only original artist recordings along with the music videos, where available. However, the 2009 remake of the game (titled Karaoke Revolution, just like the original) features all master tracks.
