Sony Playstation - Released - September 15, 2000

Mary-Kate and Ashley's first PlayStation game takes them through a mall that is under the influence of a magical spell, which causes each of the stores to become a portal to another world. Each of the games are found within the mall under store names Fash, Music Nation, Just Say Snow, Catch A Wave, and Lizzie's Lunch. Fash involves choosing which outfits Mary-Kate and Ashley will wear on the catwalk as they strut their stuff for photo opportunities. Once the outfits are selected, players earn points by snapping pictures of the pair, with bonuses awarded for poses, close-up views, and shots being centered in the frame. Music Nation lets players pick a girl, setting, and the dance moves to create a memorable sequence to impress video producers. Players can set the dancing to any of the included music tracks or a song from their own CD library by swapping discs and scanning in the selected song. Just Say Snow involves racing an opponent down the slope in a series of three mountain courses, while Catch A Wave has players once again behind the lens of a camera, trying to snap pictures of boys at the beach. The final level, Lizzie's Lunch, is a timed game where players serve impatient customers their orders as quickly as possible by skating over to the corresponding service area and then dropping the food off at the counter. To complete the game, a total of five shifts must be fulfilled while meeting sales quotas (each completed order earns players cash and possible tips for speedy service). As players advance through the game, they'll receive up to nine tokens to unlock bonus features for each of the five levels.

Rugrats: Search For Reptar

Sony Playstation - Released - November 1, 1998

Rugrats - Search for Reptar is an adventure video game that was released in 1998 for PlayStation in North America and in the PAL region by THQ. The game is based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats which aired from 1991 until 2004. The game follows the main character of the cartoon, Tommy Pickles, who has lost his Reptar puzzle. It features stages that are typically based on episodes from the television show. It was developed with the intent of appealing to ages seven through twelve. A marketing campaign, which was the second biggest of 1998, was formed in conjunction between Sony Computer Entertainment America and THQ for its North American release, in order to bolster the children's market on the PlayStation. The game has been met with mixed reviews from critics, though it has regularly been noted that children will enjoy it. It was criticized for its camera and gameplay by publications such as IGN and GameSpot; but was given a positive reception for its presentation and was well-received commercially, being the third best-selling game in the first two weeks of its release. It was incorporated into the Greatest Hits brand and sold more than 1.5 million copies. GAMEPLAY & PREMISE: The game follows the main character of the cartoon Rugrats, Tommy Pickles, who has lost a puzzle featuring the cartoon dinosaur Reptar. It is a 3D platform game which requires players to control several of the main characters in order to accomplish the goals. The game has fourteen levels that are accessed by players picking up certain objects. It also has bonus levels with Reptar bars. Players can play the levels in any order, but the more difficult levels have to be unlocked to be playable. The levels that players explore are mostly based on episodes from the cartoon, such as "Chuckie's Glasses", and contain various pieces of the Reptar puzzle. The game also has a training and activities mode, as well as multiplayer mode. Tommy is beside himself with grief: he can't find his Reptar puzzle pieces! Now Chuckie, Angelica, Phil and Lil must help him locate the twelve pieces so all can be right again in the Rugrats world. In this 3D adventure, you'll be able to explore the Pickles' house as you search high and low for each piece. Certain objects in each room will grant you access to the game's fourteen levels, which can be played in any order and are classified as either easy, medium or hard. Levels can take place inside the house, outside in the backyard, and even at a miniature golf course, supermarket or toy store! After you select a level, your job is to help the selected Rugrat baby complete the task, whether it's using Spike to find Angelica's doll or gathering eggs within a time limit. Finish a task and you'll be one step closer to finishing the puzzle. During your adventure you'll also get to play bonus levels, including Cookie Race, Touchdown Tommy, No More Cookies and Gold Rush, giving you the chance to earn Reptar bars. Once you collect 15 Reptar bars, you'll get another puzzle piece! Training and Activities modes allow you to practice certain moves or play nine holes of miniature golf with up to four players. Game progress can be continued with a memory card, because as Tommy says: "a baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do."

Skylanders Giants

Nintendo 3DS - Released - October 21, 2012

Skylanders Giants is an all-new adventure for existing Skylanders toys that will also add 20 new characters--including eight giant ones--to the roster. The 3DS version of Skylanders Giants puts the skylanders against the evil pirate Captain Frightbeard, who was once banished together with his crew to the Chest of Exile by the Arkeyans. The levels are accessed from Flynn's ship, and only two skylanders can be sent at a time. The player must then complete each mission's objectives with the chosen characters, and can only leave once he has succeeded, both characters are defeated, or by bailing out, which cancels any progress made to the level. The skylanders can however be revived from within the mission for a fee, and are automatically revived once on Flynn's ship. Contrary to the console version, the figures abilities are unlocked by leveling-up rather than being bought from an NPC, and are therefore not transferable from one version to the other. The 3DS skylanders also all have the ability to jump, which is used for completing the levels, as the platforming gets more complex as the game progresses. The starter pack comes with three skylanders figure: Cynder Punch Pop Fizz Tree Rex Only Tree Rex is included in the Portal Owners Pack.

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron

Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron

Nintendo DS - Released - November 3, 2009

Elite Squadron allows players to participate in combat on foot, in ground vehicles or in space. Players are also able to enter capital ships and, once the shields are down, fight the enemy inside on foot. The ground-space transitions are accompanied by short cutscenes while the game loads the next area. The same is also true of entering or exiting a capital ship. This is the first Battlefront game to allow players to fly from ground to space battles. The consequences of each battle will depend on the players actions, meaning that each individual enemy killed can affect the outcome of a result. The battlefront will not be one giant, seamless map, but a compilation of inter-connected, smaller size areas, each one capable of affecting the other. Elite Squadron features "Heroes and Villains" gameplay. It includes playable characters such as Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, The Emperor and Kit Fisto, and the Heroes and Villains mode (Assault Mode) last featured in Star Wars: Battlefront II. Also included is General Rahm Kota, a character from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, as well as other characters from Renegade Squadron, such as Col Serra. Also, the Galactic Conquest mode features a new mechanic not seen in previous versions, where two players are able to share a single PSP, and compete against each other in a strategy based game mode. Players are also able to mix characters from the Star Wars saga and put them into locations and situations that never happened within canon. The story mode has been called "a huge step up from previous story modes", and was praised for incorporating the controls into the mission. As players made progress in the story and completed objectives, they would unlock customization props.

Target Toss Pro: Bags

Target Toss Pro: Bags

Nintendo Wii - Released - November 17, 2008

Target Toss Pro: Bags is a new video game based on beanbag toss—the nation's hottest backyard and tailgate sensation. Bags, or Cornhole as they call it in some parts of the country, originated in the Midwest in the 1960s and has since become a staple at outdoor social events from coast to coast. Bags is a deceptively simple, yet extremely competitive game where players try to toss beanbags into a hole in a slightly raised platform or "box" for points, similar to horseshoes. Whether at a tailgate party or a summer barbeque, the game has become a social focal point, and the unmistakable thud of bags hitting the box is now a universal party sound track.

Target Toss Pro: Lawn Darts

Nintendo Wii - Released - September 27, 2010

Target Toss Pro: Lawn Darts is a new WiiWare game based on one of the nation's most infamous backyard games. Target Toss Pro: Lawn Darts has four types of flying dart action to choose from: Classic Lawn Darts, 501, Cricket and Poker Darts. Each game has a unique scoring method and strategy to keep you entertained for hours. Classic Lawn Darts involves throwing three darts at two circles with an escalating Red Dot Bonus bull's eye in the center. 501 is similar to the classic pub darts game of the same name, and involves throwing three darts at a dartboard during eight rounds of play until all 501 points—and not one point more—are cleared. Cricket is another classic pub darts game of three tosses per round where players compete to close out the numbers 15 through 20 and the bull's eye before their opponent. Poker Darts involves launching five darts at a deck of 52 playing cards while attempting to get the best poker hand, and highest scores, over three hands.
