Angry Birds: Star Wars

Nintendo Wii - Released - October 29, 2013

Angry Birds: Star Wars is a Star Wars themed edition of the Angry Birds series. The gameplay mechanics are the same as with other Angry Birds games, where the goal in each of the levels is to take out all of the pigs with the allocated amount and types of Angry Birds. The space and gravity mechanics from Angry Birds: Space are also implemented. For this edition the birds have been given a Star Wars character makeover: Red Bird is Luke Skywalker, Yellow Bird is Han Solo, Pink Bird is Princess Leia, Big Red Bird takes the role of Chewbacca, Black Bird becomes Obi Wan Kenobi and Blue Bird is a rebel pilot. In addition to the cosmetic changes, the birds also get specific abilities based on what character they are: Red Bird gets a lightsaber, Yellow Bird gets a blaster etc. The Pigs are cast into the roles of the various bad guys of the Star Wars films such as Jawas, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. As with the characters, each level is based on parts of the original Star Wars trilogy, appearing in the order that they do in the film. Each level gets introduced with a Angry Birds-style introduction.

Nintendo DS - Released - October 13, 2008

FIFA 09 not only offers a robust multiplayer experience, including play via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, it also brings the EA Sports Be A Pro feature to the DS for the first time. How fast is the new FIFA 09 experience? Sixty frames-per-second fast. Using a game engine built exclusively for the DS, FIFA 09’s graphical power delivers more responsive, intelligent and realistic motions and actions from the players. The high frame rate means that players will move more fluidly around the pitch, react to the action and move with an uncompromised swiftness – all combining to deliver crisp, beautifully placed passes and precision shots. Every match performance is evaluated in real-time, giving you instant feedback on your performance. Not only is the action more intense in FIFA 09, the multiplayer options have also stepped up a gear. NASCAR

NASCAR

Sony PSP - Released - September 6, 2006

NASCAR returns with a new roster of drivers and features in NASCAR 07. The gameplay and available modes are fairly identical to the previous game (including the team racing controls), but the pace has been kicked up a notch, with an added blur effect to enhance the sense of speed. A new feature is the Adrenaline meter. When full, it offers improved handling and speed. Drivers now carry ranks with different attributes (Dynamic Driver Attributes) and racing tendencies. Specific drivers will perform better on certain tracks. Players can earn skill points to improve their attributes by keeping a lead, making clean passes, intimidation or survive dangerous situations. The main modes are Race Now, Season Mode, Chase for the Cup, Fight to the Top (Whelen Modified series, Craftsman Series, Craftsman Trucks, NBS, and NEXTEL Cup), Online Races (Quick Matches and Optimatch - where the host can fully define the event) and Dodge Challenges. The Dodge Speed Zone mode is no longer included. Important racers are shown in FMV interviews prior to Dodge Challenge races. As usual, the car can be tweaked and fine-tuned in many ways. This is the first NASCAR game to appear on the PSP. It is fairly similar to the console versions, but does not include Total Team Control to talk with the team. The handheld version includes a new feature: Instant Rewind. While racing, a meter builds up with time, which can be used to rewind the game action when crashing or taking a bad turn. A few of the game modes are different. Sterrance is featured on the US cover, as the driver for the #12 Alltel Dodge. The PAL release has Thomas's DeWalt Ford Fusion.

NCAA Football 2004

NCAA Football 2004

Nokia N-Gage - Released - December 10, 2003

This is an N-Gage version of the console game. In general it follows the same rules: it's an American football "simulator" where you can choose a team from a vast roster corresponding with 2003 season, pick strategies from a number of offensive and defensive plays and then command your players on the field. Also you can take a look at some of the historical teams and games. But there are a few differences. The first and most obvious one is graphics - the N-Gage game has a totally different graphical engine: instead of a fully 3D world, only the field is polygonal and sprites are used for the players models, thus making it more close to the sports games of the 90s. Secondly, Dynasty mode that lets you customize the team, build programs and recruit new members is absent, instead there are only quick play and season modes. Also, there's a one-on-one Bluetooth multiplayer and a bowl game called Nokia Sugar Bowl National Championship.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit

Nintendo Wii - Released - November 16, 2010

Need for Speed is going back to its roots and that can mean only one thing: police chases and ridiculously expensive supercars. Hot Pursuit doesn't make any claims to be the most realistic racer out there, even compared to previous games, but it does aim to be the most fun. You can play either as cops or racers, but both sides get ultra powerful cars and a range of power-ups to get them to the race's end. If you're a cop your job is to chase down your quarry using any means necessary, including roadblocks. If you're playing as a racer you'll often be in a slower car than your pursuer, but you won't be tied to any of their rules and get your own powerful power-ups like the radar jammer.

Need for Speed: ProStreet

This is your chance to prove that you have what it takes to be crowned the next street king. In addition to the game's four race modes, the Nintendo DS adaptation includes a rhythm mini-game where players must show off their car's hydraulics system by tapping buttons to the beat of a song. The game features a multiplayer mode that allows up to eight players to compete against each other via a single-cartridge Download Play session or a multi-cartridge Wireless LAN connection.

Need for Speed: Undercover

Need for Speed: Undercover

Nintendo Wii - Released - November 10, 2008

Undercover features a new open world map consisting of 109 miles (175 km) of road and a large highway system, making it the largest Need for Speed "world" EA has created so far. The game's environment consists of four boroughs: Palm Harbor, Port Crescent, Gold Coast Mountains, and Sunset Hills. In the Wii and PS2 versions two boroughs are copied off Need for Speed Most Wanted and put into different positions. These four boroughs make up the city, Tri-City (referring to the real-life city in Tri-City, Oregon), presumably a city located on the Gulf Coast or on the California Coast although the city itself heavily resembles Miami.

SSX Out of Bounds is the first handheld game in the series. Fully 3D, this snowboarding game allows you to race against computer-controlled opponents as well as locally against three other players, all requiring an N-Gage and this game. The game allows you to choose from ten different characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. It also features a Shadow Racing mode that allows you to race against the best times of another player, downloaded from the N-Gage Arena, though no direct multiplayer can be played online. The N-Gage arena will also supply you with trick tips. In order to unlock new areas and equipment, you must meet certain requirements that are achieved through performing various tricks and hitting certain high scores. Performing tricks involves simply shifting your body-weight while in the air, and pressing an additional button. The more varied your combos, the higher the score. WWE: Aftershock

Nokia N-Gage - Released - July 11, 2005

WWE Aftershock is a wrestling game featuring real fighters and arenas licensed from World Wrestling Entertainment. One of the major differences from the previous handheld adaptations is that it is done in 3D. There are ten superstars in total such as Chris Jericho, John Cena or Booker T, plus two could be unlocked using the N-Gage Arena online service. This feature is now no longer available as Nokia has abandoned the platform. The action takes place in and out of the ring and the goal is to force your opponent to submit, usually by beating them to a pulp before that. There are a multitude of moves starting with simple kicks and punches to more sophisticated grapples, throws and counter strikes. Weapons could also be picked up used sometimes. And unique to each fighter there are Smackdown moves, which when performed are shown in a cinematic manner. To activate them player needs to fill up a gauge by smacking his opponent for some time. Other elements that were licensed are the introduction walks and musical themes, which are unique for each of the wrestlers. Included game modes are Survival, King of the Ring, Tag Team and several Main Event ones that are one-on-one matches. There is a versus multiplayer option available as well via Bluetooth connection.
