0 Day Attack on Earth

Microsoft Xbox 360 - Released - December 23, 2009

0 Day Attack on Earth is a dual-stick shooter set in three cities (New York, Tokyo, and Paris) under attack by monstrous aliens. The player controls one of four aircraft types with varying characteristics in an attempt to cut through various minions to take down large bosses inside the level. Each city has seven levels or days, taking place in a different area of the city. The cities themselves are a combination of 3D buildings and 2D satellite map textures of the actual cities they represent. Up to four players can tackle the levels in online co-op. Any players less than four will be filled out by A.I.-controlled friendly craft. Weapon powerups can be collected by destroying enemy craft, and continued play will unlock new or upgraded playable ships out of a possible 40. Players can also fight each other online in a multiplayer versus mode.

The game was later released as a free download for all on March 1, 2017. The player progresses through a series of stages in which hordes of monsters and daemons must be defeated. If all three allies are summoned before Armiger, they will execute the powerful Bonds of Battle.

Adventures of Mana

Adventures of Mana

Android - Released - February 4, 2016

Adventures of Mana[a] is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix. It is a 3D remake of the 1991 Game Boy game Final Fantasy Adventure, the first game in the Mana series. It was released worldwide for Android and iOS on February 4, 2016; a PlayStation Vita version was also released on the same date in Japan, and in June 2016 in North America and Europe. In addition to these releases, Square Enix is considering developing a PlayStation 4 version. The player takes the role of a young hero who, together with a heroine, tries to stop the Dark Lord of Glaive from destroying the Tree of Mana. The gameplay focuses on sword combat, and is seen from a top-down perspective. The player traverses the game world, which is divided into several areas, and makes their way through dungeons. While fighting monster characters, a gauge is shown on the screen filling up over time and resetting when the player gets hit or attacks; by waiting to attack until the gauge is full, the player can use a stronger attack. The player is accompanied by various non-player characters, who each have different skills the player can use, and who help them defeat enemies. The idea for the game came from the producer, Masaru Oyamada, who wanted all Mana games to be playable on modern platforms for the series' 25th anniversary in 2016. Initially there was some argument at Square Enix about whether the remake should be done in 2D or 3D; they chose 3D, as it was thought to be easier to control on smartphones and because it could be used as a base for potential future Mana remakes. The game has received positive reviews, with reviewers giving particular praise to the visuals and the music, and some calling it a better Final Fantasy Adventure remake than the Game Boy Advance game Sword of Mana had been.

Army Corps of Hell

Army Corps of Hell

Sony Playstation Vita - Released - February 22, 2012

The story behind Army Corps of Hell wouldn't be out of place on a DIO album cover. As the King of Hell, you are fighting to claim your rightful place as the leader of the underworld, fighting off legions of demonic enemies and huge bosses while pushing your way forward and asserting your place in hell. The gameplay is a cross between Overlord and Pikmin, giving you command of a group of Goblins who fight for you. They are divided into three different types – Soldiers, Spearmen, and Magi. Soldiers are your basic workhorse fighters, you'll chuck them at your enemies and stack them up in order to pull off high-damage yielding Salvo attacks, while Spearmen are long-range, narrow attackers. The final class, Magi, require you to charge up their attacks, but are capable of hitting protected targets, like enemies that are covered in fire for example. You can also set your different unit types into formations, resulting in improved attack power, defense, and mobility depending in which unit type you're using.

Chaos Rings

Chaos Rings

Sony Playstation Vita - Released - May 7, 2015

Chaos Rings is an RPG detailing the fates of five couples who are summoned against their wills to the mysterious "Ark Arena" where they must battle each other in a tournament with the ultimate prize being immortality. The player gets to choose between two of these couples at first (Escher/Musiea, Eluca/Zhamo) with two more becoming available later on. Each pairing is forced to crawl through dungeons where they battle enemies, earn currency, and face a boss at the end. The goal of the dungeons is for each couple to earn their rings (the Warrior's Ring and the Companion's Ring) and ultimately, prepare to face the other couples in tournament battle. Once all the other couples have been eliminated, the player will battle the Agent who oversaw the tournament, and reach an end credits sequence. If the player saves the game after the credits and reloads the game, the story continues, further exploring the origin of the Ark and its inhabitants. Combat is turn-based; players have the option of having their characters attack solo or as a pair, using standard attacks, "Gene" special attacks, or using an item. As is standard for RPGs, characters can equip weapons and armor, as well as the animal genes that grant elemental abilities. Though the dungeons are separate from the arena, the player may visit them as many times as they wish, even choosing the average level of the enemies inhabiting the dungeon.

In addition to the story mode, there is now also an arena mode where players can fight different sets of monsters for rewards. The arena has seasons and events tied to the real world calendar. Like previous games in the series, Chaos Rings III allow you to have three active characters characters in parties. Many other game mechanics were completely changed, but the combat is still turn-based. Players no longer have the option to perform pair attacks. They are performed automatically if characters have similar speed indicators. The gene system was also heavily changed and characters are no longer able to equip separate genes. Genes now come as class cards and each card has a unique combination of skill and abilities. Characters can equip only one card at time. Originally released in August 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it is the third game in the Deus Ex series, and a prequel to the original game released in 2000.[4] An OS X version, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Ultimate Edition, was released on April 26, 2012 by Feral Interactive; it includes the original game and The Missing Link downloadable content.[5][6] An improved version of the game for PC and consoles, including a Wii U version, was released on October 22, 2013 as Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut.[7] Feral Interactive released the OS X version of Director's Cut on April 15, 2014.[8] The Director's Cut includes The Missing Link as part of the main plot. Microsoft added the game to the list of Xbox 360 games compatible with Xbox One on December 17, 2015. [9] The game is set in 2027, 25 years before the first game and 45 years before the second game, at a time when multinational corporations have grown in power beyond the control of national governments. The game follows Adam Jensen, the newly hired security manager at Sarif Industries, a growing biotechnology firm. After terrorists brutally attack Sarif's Detroit-based headquarters, the mortally wounded Jensen is forced to undergo radical life-saving surgeries that replace large areas of his body with advanced prostheses and internal organ systems. Returning to work, he becomes embroiled in the global politics of the human enhancement movement in the search for those responsible for the attack. Central themes to the game are the rise of corporations in globalization, espionage, human survival, poverty, and the ethics of advancing humans with artificial replacements for body parts. Human Revolution received critical acclaim upon its release, with many reviewers praising the open-ended nature of the game and the weight of social interaction on the outcome of events.[10] A sequel, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, was revealed in April 2015, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.[11]

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Deus Ex: Human Revolution

Sony Playstation 3 - Released - August 23, 2011

In a near future dominated by chaos, conspiracies and biomechanical augmentations, society is divided by various organizations fighting for supremacy, and large corporations extending their power beyond those of governments. An ideological war is growing between people who accept the biotechnological progress and people who fight it. A human revolution is coming. Adam Jensen is a thirty-four-year-old ex-SWAT member from Detroit, enrolled by a powerful biotechnology company named Sarif Industries. His job is to ensure the scientists' private security and safeguard the secrets of the company's projects. The first day after his hiring, Adam Jensen is about to attend a meeting with David Sarif, the founder and CEO of Sarif Industries, when suddenly a red alert is issued in the company laboratories. A troop of mercenaries, apparently working for Belltower Associates, breaks in and kills several scientists. After having neutralized some of the mercenaries, Adam is severely injured by one of them. He has no choice but to be enhanced with biomechanical augmentations to save his life. His goal is now to discover what were the motivations of the attackers, and unravel a greater conspiracy behind their actions. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the third game in the Deus Ex series. The events of the game take place in the year 2027, twenty-five years before those described in the first game. Like the first installment, the game is a hybrid of 3D shooter with a stealth angle and role-playing. All styles of play can be adopted to succeed in the missions, from a totally furtive mode (some bonuses are granted in case the player character hasn't been detected during the whole mission), to the most brutal one. The player's decisions may have an impact on the storyline. The game offers a vast array of weapons and biomechanical augmentations (hacking, social, stealth, sight, armor or combat skill enhancements, etc.). Various amounts of experience points are awarded for completing main or secondary quests, avoiding or eliminating enemies, hacking, reading electronic books and discovering secret passages. After having accumulated a certain quantity of experience points, the player is awarded a "praxis kit", which can be manually used to learn or improve an augmentation. These kits can also be found during exploration or purchased in clinics. Role-playing elements include, besides augmentations and general character-building, exploration of non-hostile areas and dialogue with non-playable characters. During certain crucial moments the player will have to participate in a "conversation battle" with a key character, selecting the correct psychological approach and influencing subsequent plot events. A few modifications have been made to the shooting gameplay, emphasizing its tactical aspect. Third-person cover system is integrated into otherwise fully first-person gameplay. Enemies often appear in groups led by a commander; taking out the latter may demoralize enemies, making them easier targets. Though the game still contains health-restoring items, the protagonist's health regenerates itself over time.
