Invasion Force (Micromania)

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Released

Invasion Force is a fixed screen shoot 'em up where the player, as so often before, has to defend the earth from an army of hostile aliens. The player moves his laser base along the bottom of the screen. At the top there's a large enemy ship that is protected by a moving force field. In addition to this there are smaller ships that drops bombs towards the player. The objective of each level is simply to destroy the large ship, but to be able to reach and damage it the player first has to shoot holes in the force field. Hitting the force field causes the missiles to ricochet back towards the player. The force field also has black parts that should be avoided, since hitting them will fully repair the enemy ship. To take down the enemy ship the player has to hit the control area located in the centre of the ship. The game is over when the player has lost all of his three ships or when the time runs out.

Pengy

Pengy

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Released - 1983

PENGY is controlled by an AGF or KEMPSTON joystick or by A-UP Z-DOWN M-RIGHT N-LEFT 1-PAUSE 2-RESTART The remaining keys on the bottom row make PENGY push an adjacent ice block. The maze contains normal blue blocks, bonus purple blocks and flashing yellow blocks which are frozen Snobees. When PENGY pushes an ice block it will either slide or melt. PENGY must destroy the Snobees either by crushing them with ice blocks, or when they are green and dizzy, by running over them. If the Snobees trap PENGY by a wall, pushing the wall will cause temporary dizziness in the nearby Snobees. The Snobees are courageous when in a swarm, but cowardly on their own, and the last bee has the tendency to fly away before PENGY can kill him. Bonuses are won by pushing the three bonus blocks together in a line, crushing two or more bees with one block, and by clearing each maze quickly. Each maze cleared brings more faster and deadly Sno-bees.

Project Future

Project Future

Sinclair ZX Spectrum - Released - 1985

Your first mission out of Space College could hardly be tougher - penetrate the SS Future spaceship, and activate its self-destruct function, to prevent it crashing into earth. This means walking through 256 screens of minions, and getting each part of the protection code. The droids emerge from particular points of the level, and constantly regenerate, so your path must be precisely navigated. You can collect a suit of armour for protection, improved weaponry (the initial unit only fires horizontally), and a high-speed scooter - each of which last for the next 3 screens. Extra lives can be collected en route.
