Buzzard Bait

Buzzard Bait

Dragon 32/64 - Released - 1984

Buzzard Bait is a game for one or two players. Two players will play the game simultaneously and can choose to be friendly and team up against the enemies or fight each other for additional points. Your character sits on top of a giant bird and flies around the screen. You can knock other riders off their birds by hitting them from above. Similarly, computer controlled enemies or a second player can knock you off your bird. Enemies knicked off their bird will fall down as eggs, which can be collected for additional points. Uncollected eggs will eventually hatch and the character is reborn, waiting for a bird to come pick him up to join the fighting again. Buzzard Bait is a version of the arcade game Joust.

Buzzard Bait

TRS-80 Color Computer - Released - 1983

After a successful Pitfall clone (Trapfall), Tom Mix published a Joust clone for the CoCo and Dragon. Just as in the original Joust, you are a knight, riding an ostrich in a dungeon tournament(!). The goal is to force the ostrich to fly onto the platform and to land on your opponents. The opponent ostriches turn into eggs when landed upon, for you to collect. When all opponents are eliminated, you go on to the next level. If you wait too long, a dangerous pterodactyl will enter the screen to chase you down. Buzzard Bait is mostly feature-complete compared to its role model, including lava trolls. To cope with the limited colour repertoire of the Motorola 6847 chip, you can choose between three colour schemes for the game, ranging from the system green and "buff" to a pure black and white mode.

Fangman

TRS-80 Color Computer - Released - April 27, 1984

Fangman is a cute, Halloween style arcade game. In it, you are a vampire, who must trap humans (with the help of your trusty bats), while avoiding the roving sun, and any crosses in your path (which are created by two humans crossing paths). Each time you manage to trap and kill a human, it changes into a bat to help you. You do have the ability (once per life or screen) to gain a temporary 'super power' that gives you the ability to go over (and destroy) 3 crosses. If two bats cross each others paths, they will drop coffins for you to pick up, which are worth extra points.
