Eindeloos

Commodore 64 - Released - 1985

"Endless" once was a popular tourist attraction. People from all over the world came to see the subterranean wonders of the huge cave system. But this came to an end when an alien super-being was awakened by an exploration on one of Neptune's moons. Angrily, the super-being directed his eyes to Earth and took up residence in "Eindeloos" and turned it into a fortress. The super-being then took a form of a mystic heart and went back to slumber. The player now has to descend with a helicopter in "Eindeloos" to defeat the super-being and its hordes. The player has control over a helicopter in a multidirectional perspective. While the player is exploring the immense caves, it is very important not to be hit by the many moving obstacles such as mines, scroll tracks and energy wires. Also the enemies, who resemble winking skulls (and can take different forms) will attack the player. Fortunately, they can be destroyed with the fire button of your joystick or you can lure them so that they fly up against the obstacles. To continue, the player can change the direction of the funnels and doors by pressing on levers and arrows with the space bar. If you use the spacebar on an exclamation mark, you can continue from the exclamation mark after a crash. The player starts the game with 14 helicopters.

Hopeless

Commodore 64 - Released - 1986

Hopeless is a side view scrolling game with platform elements where the screen moves when you move your hero, Al 'Dutch Meat' Bluntz, as you try to rescue your girl, Jane from the clutches of the most wanted person in the Galaxy, the Manic Munk. The Munk has taken her to his lair in the heart of the Solar System, Milton Keynes, and after 'borrowing' the latest Space Shuttle, you have arrived at the lair ready to attempt your rescue. The only way to get Jane is to destroy the Munk but he is protected by fourteen gates that protect the nerve centre of the lair which are controlled by hearts. To deactivate the gates, the hearts have to be turned off by various terminals scattered around the vast lair one by one. Once the nerve centre is open to enter, you can face the Manic Munk, get Jane and live happily ever after. As you walk along platforms and use ladders to explore the lair, you also have a Jet-Pack which allows you to fly around the lair and open space but there are also gates blocking routes and so terminals have to be found also to turn these on and off. Using the Jet-Pack uses up fuel which is shown by a meter which decreases when it is in use. Many creatures move around the lair and these have to be avoided or destroyed because if you touch one then you lose part of your strength and energy meters and if these reach zero then it is game over. You are armed with a defence shield or a laser but these use up either energy or fuel, but you can also use a karate chop which doesn't decrease anything. Icons show which weapon you are using and there are also icons showing the status of the game. Below the playing area with your icons and meters, you also have a compass which shows the direction the joystick is being used and four dots with one turning blue showing you the direction of the nearest heart terminal. Other terminals can be found and these can increase your energy, strength and fuel meters as well as show a map showing a small part of the lair which can be scrolled to look around. You can also transport to other parts of the lair as well.

The second from 10:00 to 101.0 etc. until at 10:50 the sixth transmitter battery is exhausted and the game is over. With these means the player can find the transmitters: Large blue signs with white letters on which "Signal" is displayed; These indicate an electronic arrow in the direction of the currently working transmitter. District map: when the player parks there and presses the fire button, you get to see the part of the city where you are at that moment. A green rectangle represents the entire city; a small gray rectangle indicates in which part you are now. A small white dot is the first transmitter. Sonar stations: if the player parks here, you will see the part of the town where you are at that moment and hear a whistle and see white dots on the screen. The faster they go, the closer you are to the transmitter. The buildings with the inscription "Puzzle": if the player parks here and presses the fire button, you will see a part of the city where the transmitter is located. By means of the map that you find in the manual, you can find out which part of the city that is. From the third channel (from 10:20 onward) only pieces of the plan are shown. During the search for the transmitters, the game is interrupted regularly to ask the player about certain traffic situations, such as identifying which of the road users has priority. The player also has to refuel regularly at one of the filling stations. Because if the player is without petrol, there will be an automatic refuel and the player will pay penalty seconds. So the player must keep an eye on the fuel gauge at the bottom of the screen. If the player sees a black rectangle appear on the pavement, the player must stop and press the fire button; one of the transmitters has been found.
